Christmas Common
Oxfordshire
On this large country estate project, we were contracted by Spink Construction to carry out:
-
Full site clearance
-
Demolition of existing outbuildings and hardstand
-
Substructure groundworks for a new, exclusive residential property

Site clearance & demolition
We began the project with comprehensive site clearance, including:
-
Demolition of outbuildings and existing hardstanding
-
On-site concrete crushing to process arisings
-
Stockpiling processed material for reuse later during landscaping phases
Access
road construction
Following clearance, we constructed a Tarmac-topped access road:
-
Designed initially for construction access
-
Intended to be reduced later and re-purposed as the main driveway
Basement excavation
Next, we carried out a full basement excavation:
-
All spoil was retained on-site for future landscaping use
-
Upon reaching reduced level, we installed large mass concrete footings in preparation for the incoming reinforced concrete (RC) frame contractor
Drainage system installation
Before RC works began, we were tasked with installing a cast iron drainage system beneath the main structure:
-
This type of system requires precise installation due to its rigid, non-flexible joints
-
We implemented a strict testing process throughout installation to ensure leak-free joints and long-term reliability
All components passed full testing, after which:
-
The drainage was encased in concrete for structural stability
-
The entire basement area was blinded, completing our preparation for the RC frame contractor to commence structural works
