Towersey
South Oxfordshire
We were contracted by BARR Build to deliver a comprehensive substructure, drainage, and landscaping package for this project for acclaimed architects Richard Parr Associates, in the South Oxfordshire countryside.

The site comprised two separate buildings:
-
A main living structure
-
An adjacent garage structure

This project highlights the versatility of our team, showcasing our capabilities from complex civil engineering through to high-end landscaping and finishing works.

Ground preparation
Upon commencement, we identified the need for a large-scale topsoil strip due to extremely waterlogged ground conditions.
Once stripped and the reduced level achieved, we installed a layer of Terram followed by crushed concrete to create a stable working platform.
Substructure construction
We proceeded with:
-
Excavation and concrete foundation pours
-
Construction of large reinforced concrete slabs with upstands on the foundations.
Once completed, the substructure was handed over to the main contractor.
Drainage works
We began drainage installation immediately after substructure completion:
-
Foul drainage was connected to a pump chamber installed approximately 4.0 meters deep
-
Stormwater was piped into a large attenuation pond, which overflowed into a swale for natural ground infiltration
All associated excavation and landscaping was performed by our team.
Landscaping
Our team delivered extensive hard and soft landscaping:
-
Front of the property:
-
A large reinforced gravel driveway
-
A curved brick paviour path
-
-
Side and rear areas:
-
Paths constructed from agricultural decking slats
-
Hand-floated concrete areas
-
Extensive planting areas
